On the morning of Tuesday 13th September 2016, I discovered that the phpBB (bulletin board) website known as streetcar.org.au had been "shut down by Microsoft" - (which of course has absolutely no jurisdiction over the world-wide web).
Please read this saved link to see for yourself what I mean. These captures will open in a new tab or window, according to how you have configured your web browser. Please note that Microsoft have stated on that page that there are NO threats whatsoever that it could find on the site, yet it shut down a paid webssite on the world wide web because SOMEBODY WITH A GRUDGE logged a complaint that there was a problem with the site's security. Amazing the arrogance. It appears that Microsoft still has an "Ownership Problem" there.
Also, instead of the "regular" front page of the website appearing, this is what presented itself on my monitor.
By what - and whose - authority?
This writer has been a competant and longstanding - over many years - technical author with matching hands-on experience as a webmaster, a hostmaster, a member of a system development team in one of the Unix Operating systems, and four different varieties of Linux Operating systems, as well as running several internet chat rooms, in one of which there was a responsibility for overseeing a similar "Bulletin Board" as well as the usage of specific servers adapted for text chatting. He has also been exposed on the "receiving end" to what are called "Denial of Service" attacks (known as DOS), and the harder to deal with more heinous advanced version called "Distributed Denial of Service" (known as DDOS) where the attacker marshalls and then controls multiple robots to attack at the same time, which is very difficult to counter and to bring to justice the perpetrator(s)
Proof of the identities of such DDOS attackers is well-nigh impossible as the attacks are usually from other jurisdictions and to obtain from them the log data needed to identify the Internet Protocol (IP), the numeric address of the sources as well as date, time and timezone of the offender is difficult to obtain even if available as some log-keeping organisations are a bit "hit and miss" if you will excuse the pun.
Indeed, one suspects - from anecdotal evidence gathered - that in their minds, they are above those laws, reporting solely to their own perceived version of Almighty God via his sole spokesman on planet earth. This sort of behaviour should remind us of the way in which the well publicised psuedo-Christian Cult known as the "Exclusive Brethren" behaves towards its members.
Those of us who have been involved in what is frequently called "Cult Ministry" recognise this as a known pattern of behaviour that is useful in deciding whether a church is, in fact, exhibiting cultish behaviour and attitudes, far from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.
When power is vested in a dictator who is able to cause even his inner circle of leaders to be "sent to coventry" (also called "shunning") because they have dared to question a changed teaching from the "oracle of God", then something is radically wrong. This writer has personally known a number of such senior men, in Administration, in Music Leadership, etc, all effectively dismissed in this way, with their families, friends and colleagues facing the same "shunning" procedure if they dare communicate with these "unfrocked" colleagues. One of those treated in this way is a highly acclaimed musical composer who came into the public eye in the late 1980's, a man I believed to have great personal integrity, but "conned" by "el presidente" into seeing and supporting a rewrite of the Christian gospel before "being given the boot" in a very public and humiliating manner, along with his wife. They also destroyed this couple's online presence.
If it were not so serious it might be seen as a bit like Gilbert and Sullivan's character of the "Lord High Everything Else" in "The Mikado".
I am amazed at how it is so well hidden from those in the pews who don't ever question disappearing people.
They are Brisbane-based, a "renewal" group historically based on the 1948 Saskatchewan Revival and the Assemblies of God, who have changed their name more than once, and and are most recently known as the Brisbane Christian Fellowship, with branch churches across Australia and in South-East Asia, in some cases run by relatives of the head man in Brisbane.
ABC Television and the Nine Network screened programmes online (several years ago) about this group of "Counterfeit Christians" (and there are many varieties of Counterfeit Christians).
An extremely sad tale, but well supported by reference material frequently drawn on by media sources who find that government authorities aren't interested.
So, dear reader, you may be asking to where this page is leading. This writer was not part of the phpBB forum currently known as www.streetcar.org.au at the time the site was irreperably damaged maybe two years ago by bot attacks they are convinced were planned and delivered by church officials who were determined to shut down all forms of communications by bullied church members who needed to call out for help, because they had nobody to help them. Anecdotal evidence tells us that the streetcar forum was shut down for around a year in this manner in 2014, to reappear late 2015 (last year) with safeguards against such attacks, which although were illegal, government authorities appeared unwilling or unable (or both) to take any action.
That is analagous to a James Bond "007" type of "licence to kill" in the cyber world.
Those who work in the business have known since Microsoft ceased being a "garage company" in the 1960's-1970's that their inability to secure their systems has forever been their hallmark, hence their provision with the advent of Windows 7 and yet another redesigned web browser, we see the ability for anybody to "report" alleged shonky sites.
Come on guys. This behaviour cannot be allowed to continue. The site I refer to has now been down for two weeks and after being restored for a week is now down AGAIN for several weeks, initially with one of my sites because I dared raise the matter in public. Isn't that also censorship? I would suggest it is.
Because of inaccurate claims (might I say "lies"??) that it presents a threat.
Actually it only presents a threat to the personal integrity of their organisers, and their henchmen (and their "teaching system") in a cult church in Brisbane and its satellite branches in a number of Australian and overseas places.
Because Microsoft's operating system is provided (sold) with every computer built. Microsoft is able to turn off access to whatever sites it wishes Internet Explorer to refuse to access. This is promoted as a security thing.
You may ask how Microsoft can get into your computer to do this.
Remember Microsoft designed your computer system after all. It has been known since the 80's that the Microsoft operating system saves a log in your computer unable to be accessed by you or your techician, of places visited and activities pursued... so why do this if they can't access it?
So may I suggest that nothing could be easier than Microsoft to enter through their own "backdoor" they created and instruct their web browser to falsely vilify a website as dangerous to visit? After all Microsoft have turned off many computers running Windows 7 that "they believe" are running "pirated system software. How do I know? A laptop of mine was invaded by them, and they claimed suddenly without any warning that my instalation was stolen. It was not, and I had to pay for a reinstallation by my friendly local computer shop. The tech there said this often happens when people ignore the internally generated warning provided by Microsoft... which I never saw because I was using a "real" computer system - Linux - for some months before needing to check something on MS Windows 7 for compatibility issues.
"Reporting back to base software" that democratic countries have refused to do anything about. This is a major reason I do not use Microsoft software any more than I need. Only needed on MS Windows.
Links to this site here, and other similar ones, may be forwarded to as many members of the Australian (Federal) Government as possible to attempt to get our elected representatives to stop sitting on their hands, which is what the recent double-dissolution of the two chambers of federal parliament showed the voting public largely believed.
You are free to do so yourself as this is a matter that needs to be aired widely
Links to saved pages may be included here if they are felt to be useful, including the Microsoft on-line reporting system, verifying the techno-speak you may have encountered in this article. As an engineer I apologise for having to describe in simple language matters that tend to lose their accuracy as a result. However you (dear reader) may well not be a "technocrat" yourself. and the insidious way these people operate really ought to be explained in a way that does not sound "gobbledegook".
The majority of computer users are likely to be unaware of alternative web browsers to the Microsoft one. Do you have a mobile telephone or a tablet PC which uses Google's "Android" operating system? The browser in it is almost identical to, and built by the same people as the Google Chrome browser available for PCs. Apple-Macintosh have their own called Safari. Unix and Linux promote Firefox (a long time ago known as Netscape, developed by Mozilla.com aka Mozilla.org). A very fast browser is "Opera".
https://gigaom.com/2014/08/24/six-alternative-web-browsers-you-should-know-about is an useful site to visit.
Apart from the Mac, the others I have mentioned all work on MS Windows as well. do a search for "alternative web browsers" Remember that IE wasn't the first browser available. MS never bothered about making one - when I first went on-line in about 1993, my ISP was ozemail.com.au and Netscape was their recommended choice of browser with a download, and the email programme I used was Eudora, recommended to me by the editor of MultiCAD Magazine for whom I wrote CAD reviews. No, Microsoft didn't have an email client either!!!
If you want to REALLY check out a website for "nasties", go to www.Netcraft.com (who have watched over my sites since about 2004 or 2005) and type into their box on the front page the address (url or uniform resource locator) of a site you are concerned about.
And if you'd like a really simple Linux system you don't even have to install on your computer, do a google search for "Puppy Linux".
Please also read this page I wrote in 2010 in a hurry as the answer to a question "why use something different from Microsoft?"
